18TH CENTURY WORKBAGS MINI SEW ALONG

This quick and simple project will give you lots of sewing satisfaction (as well as use up some scraps!) Typically made in the home they were simply made to elaborately decorated with embroidery, spangles and trims. Used to hold needlework, small sewing projects, knotting or knitting they were a handy accessory to own. You can find a variety of workbags in Museum collections as well as in 18th century paintings. Supplies Needed:
  • 2 fabrics cut:  21 inches wide by 9 3/4 inches long. You can use fabric from your stash or buy 1/4 to 1/2 yd of one or two fabrics. This will make up one to two bags.
  • 2 yards of 1 1/4 inch wide silk ribbon or other material for drawstrings.
  • Silk sewing thread
  • Needles
  • Thimble
  • Small scissors
