Barras was a coarse linen originally from Holland. In your primary research, we studied several examples of extant Barras dated 1784. They consisted of weave patterns of twill, herringbone and sometimes combined with plain weave. One particular example we examined which was striped, said that is was used for "Shades, Horse Cloths & Coach Cases".
- Our fabric is handwoven with a good closed selvage edge. It is suitable for all utilitarian needs including being sturdy enough for upholstery.
