Linen cloth was woven of flax fiber in many grades and weaves. Used in every aspect of living from clothing, to household needs, to the shroud made for the corpse, linen was so common that a tax was proposed as a source of easy revenue on the coarser sorts being imported into the US towards the end of the 18th century.

  • This linen is light weight and a creamy white with a closed selvage.
  • There are occasional small brown streaks in this fabric that may or may not wash out.
  • This particular fabric has a lot of sizing in it. We recommend you pre-wash it several times if you wish it to be softer.
  • Suited for shirts, shifts, caps, aprons, linings, and baby clothes.
  • 100% Irish Linen 58 inches wide.
