Aurora Cotton Sateen - $10.00
Cotton sateen is characterized by “an irregular twill weave in which the satin effect is produced by predominant weft threads” (Montgomery). Examples of cotton “sateen” or “drab de coton” appear in the 1786 Hilton manuscript, which says that “many are exported dyed and a few printed.” Aurora was a popular color in the 18th century. A good description from 1791 from the Elements of the Art of Dyeing says it "to make orange which contains more red".
