Worsted wool goods were woven in a variety of figures with a variety of names. This wool most closely resembles an "Amens" which we studied dated to the last quarter of the 18th century. Extra warp yarns were inserted to create a dot affect on the ground. Although the Amens we studied were woven in only one color, we have studied other patterns woven in more then one color. This figure has a tiny dot pattern of gold on a cream ground.
