Red, Black, & Green Wool Tartan - $18.00 yd.

( / )

The tartan pattern has a long history.  Often woven by individual Scottish villages for local use, it was a beautiful textile of intersecting stripes of multiple colors.  By the end of the 18th century it became a textile of production and by the early 19th century the idea of "clan" tartan took hold.  This pattern is very close to what is known today as a "Black Stewart Tartan"  with some minor differences.

  • It is light weight with a smooth hand and good drape.
  • It is well suited for both Ladies and Men's clothing of many eras from early times on.  It is suitable for gowns, lightweight jackets, suits, dresses, skirts, trousers, linings and accessories
  • 100% Worsted Wool 62 in. wide.
  • You can find this sample in the Wool: Worsted & Woolen Specialty Fabrics Swatch Pack
