Gauze by definition covers any thin, transparent fabric. Used for a variety of purposes it could be made of silk, silk and wool or all wool.  Woven with a weave which wrapped two warp yarns around the weft yarn, it created an open weave that was strong yet sheer.  Sheer wools such as this could be found as early as the 13th century according to historians. This fabric is suitable for a variety of time periods.

  • Our all wool Gauze is similar to Balzarine or Barege and could work well in the 18th and 19th century for gowns, handkerchiefs, hoods, short mantles, shawls, household needs such as light curtains as well as children's clothing.
