Plush, such as this Black Wool Plush, was a soft faced wool, much like velvet, dyed in all manner of colors. It was a popular choice for breeches, waistcoats and winter jackets. Worn by all social classes, it is documented in tailors account books, accounts of self-liberating people, and in orders for livery, with reds, buffs & blues being the most common.  Plushes, called by other names, were found in later period garments, especially outerwear.

  • This Black Wool Plush is heavy enough for outerwear, but soft enough for winter breeches, winter mitts, jackets and winter waistcoats.
  • This Black Wool Plush is 100% Wool, 56 inches wide.
