Laughing Moon Men’s Regency Tailcoat with Collar Notch and Lapel Options 1806-1820
Based on studies of original garments, Laughing Moon Mercantile has once again created a well engineered and thought out pattern for the Regency enthusiast. This tailcoat is built period correct without waist seam or lapel front seam as seen in later coats. Double breasted when buttoned with room for shirt, cravat and up to two vests. Collar stands approximately 3 inches tall with a narrow back and close fit for proper silhouette. Sleeves are built long with cuffs added they will end at the knuckle of the hand. Two separate tails overlap at back. Pockets include an inside breast pocket as well as two tail pockets. View A can be made with any wool. Views B and C have a collar that must be made with wool that does not ravel. View A lapel is a simple notched collar, which could be made with the upper collar of velvet if desired. View B is a wide “M” notch. View C is a wide touching “M” notch, “Lark’s Tongue” notch and is very pointed. View D is a wide “m” notch. View E is a long touching “M” notch.
