Our first linsey woolsey handkerchief was based on a gown worn by a child admitted to the Foundling Hospital in London. The original sample attached to the billet when examined by us was found to be made of linen and wool and was extremely lightweight. We tried to duplicate this fine textile in that handkerchief and now offer it as a plain handkerchief, dyed to the common black color found in woven handkerchiefs of linen and wool that we have examined. This handkerchief can be left plain, or embroidered if desired.
