Research & Reproduction: An Introduction To Examining & Patterning Original Garments

Have you ever wanted to study and recreate a historical garment? Not sure where to start? Research can be overwhelming!  Join Brenda Rosseau & Angela Burnley as they take you through all the steps that go into researching and documenting objects of dress.

In this 2 day workshop you will:

  • Learn how to navigate databases, define research goals and approach museums to make study appointments.

  • Explore best practices when working with objects.

  • Develop a method for approaching your appointment to achieve your goal in a limited time.

  • Practice hands on skills using provided antiques

  • Learn various methods of patterning and documenting construction for your end purpose.

This workshop is an ADVANCED BEGINNER LEVEL 1. Participants are expected to have hand sewing skills and experience in creating a basic article of 18th or early 19th century clothing. Please read more about our current Workshop Levels here.

*CANCELLATION POLICY

Because of the nature and enrollment limitation of our workshops, we regret that we are unable to give a full refund for a cancellation.  If you cancel 30 or more days prior to the workshop, we will refund your fee less a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the workshop, we will have to charge the full amount of the workshop unless we are able to fill your slot, in that event you will be charged only the $50 cancellation fee.  In the event of the workshop being cancelled we are not responsible for any costs by the attendee for cancelled reservations.
