A Glimpse into 18th Century Tailoring

By Therese Holmgren

Therese has concentrated on studying and reproducing 18th century garments since 2012.  She brings her readers an in-depth study of extant garments from five Swedish museum collections. A variety of 18th century men's and women's clothing, including jackets, waistcoats, quilted petticoats, gowns, and Swedish national dress are showcased in this excellent hardcover book.

18th century technological developments are described in texts about a silk weaving mill and Jonas Alströmer’s manufactory in Alingsås.

A Glimpse into 18th Century Tailoring includes:

  • 180 pages, with 147 color photos.
  • Construction details and scaled patterns for 17 garments.
