Linen Plain Weave Tape - Remnants
Linen Twill and Linen Plain Weave Tapes are found on garments throughout history. The Victoria & Albert Museum contains red worsted stays with a twilled linen binding, and narrow tape covering the seams. These drawers from the collection of the MET have bleached linen tape at the knee band and likely at the gusset. White and black tapes for stocks are mentioned in this Pennsylvania Gazette advertisement.
