DAR Museum Reproduction by Burnley & Trowbridge Co.
This beautiful hand loomed handkerchief is the ground for our embroidered reproduction. You find these bordered handkerchiefs made of linen, linen/cotton as well as all cotton. Holker cataloged one of English manufacture made of linen with the red border of cotton dated 1751. Countless handkerchiefs with varying borders can be found in collections such as the DAR Museum, The MFA Boston The Nordiska Museum and others as well as prints and genre paintings. It has a wide range as does its embroidered twin, going well into the 19thc. This beautiful handkerchief could be worn plain or you could embroider it yourself!
