White Fine Satin Striped Muslin
Originating in India and the Middle East, and introduced to Europe as early as the 17th century, muslin, like this White Fine Satin Striped Muslin, was described as "delicately woven cotton fabric." With the advent of the Spinning Jenny, its popularity soared from the last quarter of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. It was considered highly desirable for its lightness, and ease of cleaning. The woven stripe of this fabric is extremely delicate, giving it a subtle texture while maintaining its sheerness. It has a very soft hand and drape, making it a good choice for the Regency period.
- Our White Fine Satin Striped Muslin is light-weight and opaque with a soft drape.
- Suitable for over gowns and half gowns as well as accessories such as aprons, neckerchiefs, caps, tuckers and mantelets. For later periods would work well for underpinnings such as ruffled petticoats, camisoles and drawers.
