How do you choose a proper printed fabric when recreating an 18th century garment? Does your social standing even allow you to have a printed fabric, and if so, what is suitable for your socio-economic position?
This one day workshop with Angela Burnley includes:
- An introduction to the impressive variety of printed textiles available to the average consumer in America in the 18th century through presentations of Angela's primary research.
- Discussion of the style of the prints, the manner of printing, the dyes/colors used, and the textiles they were printed on.

Hands on exercises in the identification of prints and how they are used.
By the end of this class participants will have basic guidelines to help identify prints for future projects!
Participants are welcome to bring printed fabrics for discussion during the workshop. Suggest supplies include a notebook and phone or camera.
This workshop is a Beginner Level 1 and is appropriate for anyone with an interest in 18th century clothing and textiles. Please read more about our current Workshop Levels here.
Workshop cost $98 per person.
Because of the nature and enrollment limitation of our workshops, we regret that we are unable to give a full refund for a cancellation. If you cancel 30 or more days prior to the workshop, we will refund your fee less a $25 cancellation fee. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the workshop, we will have to charge the full amount of the workshop unless we are able to fill your slot; in that event you will be charged only the $25 cancellation fee.
