Patterned breeches buckles of the 18th century can be found in almost any costume collection. A necessary accessory for any man wearing breeches they ranged from simple to highly carved and covered with paste jewels. Likewise the materials they were made from ranged from Pinchback, Brass and Pewter to Sterling Silver. The stylized flower of our buckle is one we have found in buckles of metal and paste, metal carvings as well as simple textile prints. We have also found the pattern in paste buckles as well.
